After studying anthropology, criminology, psychology and sociology at The University of Southampton cinematography does not seem like the obvious next step. However if we elaborate on Kaminski's quote, through the application of social science, we are objectively able to align ourselves with our key players. Combining this with a broad knowledge of cinematographic techniques, gained from many years of education both on set and through continued private study it is possible to subtly transport the audience much deeper into the narrative and arcs within the storyline.
I find myself constantly obsessing about light. I've always been drawn to image making and through learning to control light am finally able to paint in a way that my hands would never allow.
